If you’re an experienced auditor with excellent communication and teamworking skills, here’s a role that offers huge variety and scope.
Working from Basingstoke, with ad-hoc travel to the Hart Office, you’ll carry out internal audits right across this diverse organisation’s work. That could include everything from accounting and budgetary control, corporate governance and IT to local tax, business continuity, electoral processes, risk management and more. As well as producing incisive reports, you will agree recommendations with service managers to drive operational development and improvement.

Qualified to PIIA or equivalent, you will bring a proven track record of evaluating systems and identifying relevant controls. While Local Government experience would be ideal, what’s important is that you combine a diplomatic and tactful approach with the ability to manage your own time and prioritise your own workload.

As one of the most financially resilient local authorities, we can also offer an exceptional future within this thriving borough. While London is in easy reach by road or rail, the picturesque South Downs National Park and the North Wessex Downs are both close at hand, as well as North Hampshire’s many historic villages.

Join us and you’ll be part of a bold and innovative Council that has big ambitions – for the borough and for our staff. We do things differently here. We go beyond expectations to nurture and develop our communities and our colleagues as we shape an exciting future for Basingstoke and Deane. You can also look forward to flexible days and hours of work, so you can fit this job in around your lifestyle and other commitments.

So you can look forward to real quality of life, particularly since we offer a very flexible approach to working hours. There’s also an excellent range of benefits including:

  • free parking,
  • salary sacrifice scheme for lease cars,
  • healthcare cash plan,
  • childcare vouchers,
  • pension scheme,
  • generous leave entitlement and more.
The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
