You already have proven landscape design experience, ideally in the development of play areas or public open spaces. Now’s your opportunity to take on a key role in the delivery of a range of innovative projects across the borough. So bring your talents to this diverse role and be part of our dynamic growth story.
Your focus will be on creating new play areas and open space improvements that have a positive impact on people’s quality of life. Managing all aspects of projects from concept to completion, you’ll get involved with community consultations, co-ordinate tenders and oversee implementation of works on site. The role will also see you acting as consultee on planning applications in order to shape future developments in the borough.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, there will be the opportunity to work closely with colleagues involved in the project. So you’ll also have the chance to share ideas, broaden your knowledge and become our expert in this area, bringing the latest thinking on current trends and best practice.

A degree or postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture or landscape design is a must, together with strong communication and project management skills. While experience of community consultations would be ideal, what really matters is that you are genuinely enthusiastic about shaping exceptional play and open spaces that people love using.

You will be joining a bold and innovative organisation that has big ambitions – for the borough and for our staff. We do things differently here. We go beyond expectations to nurture and develop our communities and our colleagues as we shape an exciting future for Basingstoke and Deane.

n return, we’ll provide all the support you need to develop your career with us. There will also be the possibility of mentoring.

As one of the most financially resilient local authorities, we can also offer an exceptional future within this thriving borough. While London is in easy reach by road or rail, the picturesque South Downs National Park and the North Wessex Downs are both close at hand, as well as North Hampshire’s many historic villages.

So you can look forward to real quality of life, particularly since we offer a very flexible approach to working hours. There’s also an excellent range of benefits including:

  • free parking,
  • salary sacrifice scheme for lease cars,
  • healthcare cash plan,
  • childcare vouchers,
  • pension scheme,
  • generous leave entitlement and more.
The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
