An exciting and varied opportunity has arisen in our forward-thinking Planning Policy and Infrastructure team – be a part of our ambitions and success
With a recognised professional planning qualification, you’ve sound experience gained in a local planning authority or private consultancy. And whether your specialism is planning or infrastructure, you’re now looking for a bigger challenge, plus the opportunity to be part of a bold and innovative organisation that has big ambitions - for our borough and for our staff.

Welcome to your future with Basingstoke and Deane. Driven by fresh thinking and imaginative new ideas, we do things differently here. We go beyond expectations to nurture and develop our communities and our colleagues. We support each other and work together to achieve shared goals and excel in everything we do.

Your focus will be on providing strategic transport and infrastructure advice and support to drive improvements across the borough. You will bring your expertise and vision to help us develop our approach, delivering expert guidance and working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to take key projects through from concept to completion.

A thorough knowledge and detailed understanding of current issues and professional practices is important, combined with excellent communication and team working skills. A customer-focused approach is also important, plus the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, business units, partners and stakeholders alike.

As one of the most financially resilient local authorities, we can also offer an exceptional future within this thriving borough. While London is in easy reach by road or rail, the picturesque South Downs National Park and the North Wessex Downs are both close at hand, as well as North Hampshire’s many historic villages.

So you can look forward to real quality of life, particularly since we offer a flexible approach to working hours. There’s also an excellent range of benefits including free parking, salary sacrifice scheme for lease cars, healthcare cash plan, childcare vouchers, pension scheme, generous leave entitlement and more.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Mark Lambert, Design Environment and Infrastructure Manager, on 01256 845750 or by email at mark.lambert@basingstoke.gov.uk.

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
