An apprenticeship with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is a great way to get your career off the ground. You will gain valuable on-the-job experience while continuing to learn, gaining a qualification and earning at the same time.
We value our apprentices and are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Democratic Services Apprentice to join our team.

Based within our busy Democratic Services Team you will provide high quality administrative support to Members of the Council and the Democratic Services Team whilst undertaking a training programme designed to develop your skills and knowledge including studying an NVQ in Business Administration.

You will be working at the heart of the organisation, facilitating the democratic decision-making process and providing a full range of administrative services for meetings of the Council. This will involve organising and attending meetings, drafting letters and minutes, preparing agenda’s, gathering information and providing advice to Members and officers.

We are looking for a team player with a positive, flexible attitude with the ability to work on your own initiative. You will be organised, able to work to deadlines, possess good IT skills, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail.

This role is at the heart of the council and will give you a really good understanding of how local government works and the range of services that are provided to residents. It will give you a great start to your career and provides the opportunity to gain a broad range of expertise, valuable experience and confidence that could be applied to many other roles inside and outside local government.

You can look forward to an excellent range of benefits including our online benefits platform, generous leave entitlement, healthcare cash plan and pension scheme.
