An Apprenticeship - could be for you banner

Apprenticeships

Getting paid while you learn might sound too good to be true, but as an apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds.

And, while you're technically achieving your qualifications, you'll be able to get hands on work experience.

There are no set entry requirements for apprenticeships. You just need to be living in England, aged 16 or over and not taking part in full-time education. Most training providers also expect you to have some level of literacy and numeracy, but this depends on the type of apprenticeship you want to do.

National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship WeekNational Apprenticeship Week is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

Coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, it’s just one of the initiatives intended to raise awareness of apprenticeships and the ‘Get in go far’ campaign. We’re promoting it locally to showcase the fantastic opportunities available in the borough and help you find out whether an apprenticeship could be the right choice for you, your child or your business.

If you, your child or your business is considering an apprenticeship, come along to one of our events during National Apprenticeship Week and find out more. Run in partnership with Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT), Basingstoke ITEC and Queen Mary College, further information will be available on how it works, there will be a chance to ask questions and you’ll have an opportunity to speak to actual apprentices to see what’s involved.

The Hampshire Apprenticeship Partnership

Delivering Apprenticeships we're proud of, Basingstoke and Deane will be working with three Hampshire councils who have developed an exciting new apprentice programme, providing an alternative to college or university.

Our programme includes additional development days where you'll meet up with apprentices from across the partnership to build new skills. You'll also have a chance to develop your team working skills and take part in projects that benefit the community.

Apprentices will have the opportunity to work jointly across the partnership, gaining broader experiences and knowledge, with the aim of improving future employment prospects.
