Good design is crucial to our effective communications and we are looking for a talented and creative graphic designer with an eye for detail to join our team.
As part of the council’s design function in the communications and marketing team, we are looking for a designer to provide a professional graphics service to the council, working closely with colleagues in the team and with the in-house print service and IT team. You will be able to turn design briefs into compelling campaigns, publications, digital communications and displays that capture attention and meet communications and marketing objectives.

You will help to protect the council’s reputation through the delivery of high quality publications and marketing campaigns that are branded with the council’s corporate identity. When required, you will take photos and create animations for the council’s publications, media releases and digital channels.

We are looking for someone with excellent design skills and experience in digital communications, as well as printed publications. Very organised with the ability to manage your graphics workload to meet corporate priorities, you will liaise with printers and distributers, both in-house and external, to meet tight deadlines and budgets.

You will:

  • have a degree or other formal qualification in graphic design
  • ideally be experienced in using PCs and the Adobe Creative Suite, including Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro and Acrobat, as well as the ability to create digital communications
  • be good communicators, able to build relationships with people at all levels
  • be able to assist in maintaining the council’s image library and design archives.
In return we can offer an opportunity to gain in-house graphic design experience in a creative communications environment.
