We have an opportunity for an experienced housing / policy professional to join our new housing strategy function within the Housing and Social Inclusion Service.
As someone who has proven experience working at a senior practitioner level, this role will support the Housing Strategy Manager with the development, implementation and delivery of the Housing and Homelessness Strategy and associated plans.

Given the strategic nature of this role there are a broad range of activities and tasks for you to lead and be involved in. Part of your role would involve compiling data to inform and influence strategic processes. This would include using housing needs information to inform and shape new affordable housing provision and negotiations with developers. However you’ll also operate as the first point of contact for Empty Homes queries in the borough, as well as organising and delivering key events and consultative forums – perhaps in relation to the Housing and Homelessness Strategy or any new initiatives (such as Low Cost Home Ownership) the council is involved in.

To meet the requirements of this exciting role you will be able to demonstrate a broad working sector knowledge of housing issues including housing needs, homelessness, empty homes and housing enabling. You will also have good communications skills, able to convey and present technical information in oral and written report form for a range of audiences.

This is a part time role, 22 hours per week performed over 3 or 4 days per week to suit the needs of the service

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council offer a wide range of benefits, including a generous leave entitlement, access to discounts at nationwide retailers through our ‘B Rewarded’ discount site, flexible working, healthcare cash plan, pension scheme and much more.

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
