Getting paid while you learn might sound too good to be true, but as an apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds.
At Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council we're big on innovation. To achieve this we want people with big ideas about how we could do things differently for the better and who aren't afraid to voice them.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join our Revenues Team that is responsible for the billing, collection and recovery of council tax and business rates. You will be joining a friendly team with a strong ethos of teamwork and collaboration.

You will be involved in a wide range of activities which will give you valuable practical work experience in a fast-paced customer focussed office environment. As part of your role, you will be responsible for the administration of customer accounts including:

  • Responding to customer enquiries by telephone, in writing and face-to-face
  • Opening and closing accounts
  • Processing applications for discounts and exemptions
  • Setting up direct debits
  • Taking payments and negotiating payment arrangements
As well as the experience you will gain through the role itself, you will also continuously develop your organisational, administrative and communication skills whilst studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council offer a wide range of benefits, including a generous leave entitlement, access to discounts at nationwide retailers through our ‘B Rewarded’ discount site, flexible working, healthcare cash plan, pension scheme and much more.

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
