We are looking for three independent, fair-minded people who are willing to become involved when a complaint is received about the conduct of a borough or parish/town councillor.
We have a procedure for dealing with such complaints, which requires the involvement of independent persons and independent standards assessors. The independent person fulfils a statutory role, whose views will be sought either by the council or councillor concerned before a decision is made on the outcome of the complaint.

The independent standards assessors assist the council assess the validity of complaints at the beginning of the complaints process.

We are looking for people who are able to bring an independent and informed perspective to the investigation process and have an interest in maintaining standards in public life.

Training will be provided, and there will be a small annual remuneration.
