Recognising the important role Property and Assets has within the council we are looking to recruit a Graduate Estates Surveyor within the Operational Portfolio to join a new permanent team of property professionals.
The council holds an established property investment and operational portfolio principally comprising industrial, office and retail assets, and with some other miscellaneous assets, valued at c. £300m producing an annual rental income more than £15m. Rental income is a major contributor to the financial sustainability of the council and the income received significantly exceeds that generated through the collection of Council Tax.

As a Graduate Estates Surveyor, you will develop the skills to manage an estates portfolio. We are looking for a person with the following key skills:

  • Showing an ability to learn new skills and share knowledge to all levels of staff from Directors to Senior Leaders.
  • Has the ambition to challenge decisions and share ideas across the team and service(s) to support continuous improvement.
  • Is able to help to improve processes and ways of working in line with service objectives.
With an ability to work well within a team environment as well as on their own when needed. A typical day could include:

  • undertaking property and land inspections advising tenants and/or third party of any breaches.
  • undertake rent and or lease reviews.
  • dealing with tenants on a face to face basis, by phone or email.
  • writing reports to the Head of Service.
  • liaising with Legal and Financial Services team.
Being able to continue to develop and forge good working relationships with consultants, internal and external stakeholders’ as well as colleagues within Property is essential. The successful candidate would have completed their academic training and would now be looking to complete their RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.
