You will play a major role in undertaking grounds maintenance working in parks, open spaces and other public areas where there are a variety of horticultural tasks to be mastered including Grass Maintenance, Shrub Pruning, Planting of Bedding schemes, Pond Maintenance, Weeding, Pest Control and Machinery Maintenance.
Getting paid while you learn might sound too good to be true, but as an apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance apprentice to join our Parks and Streetscene team.

Grounds Maintenance is part of the operations team at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council consisting of approximately 45 operatives and 3 managers. We have tractor drivers, mower operatives, hit squads & biodiversity team.

The Parks and Streetscene team cover 245 square miles across the borough. We look after all elements of Grounds under the ownership of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and also on the behalf of Hampshire County Council. We mow many thousands of acres of grass each year and look after all the areas of shrubs and hedging.

The apprentices will be based at Eastrop Park and report to the area team leader.

You will work towards an apprentice standard in amenity horticulture and will also undertake a training programme designed to develop your skills and knowledge.
