Basingstoke and Deane is a great place to work. Thank you for your interest in these exciting opportunities within the Manydown Programme team at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council which will play an integral part both enabling the delivery of new homes at Manydown and the wider place making and planning of Southern Manydown.

Manydown is a joint programme between Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Hampshire County Council with the Programme team working closely with both councils. The Manydown Garden Communities programme is one of the largest in southern England and works with a range of local, regional and national stakeholders. The councils having procured and established a joint venture with Urban&Civic, owned by The Wellcome Trust, and successfully secured outline planning permission for 3,520 new homes and associated infrastructure is now looking forward enabling the development of new neighbourhoods.

The councils are also promoting their land at Manydown South and together with an adjacent landowner collaborating on the wider promotion of ‘Southern Manydown’ for inclusion in the borough’s Local Plan. Our ambition for Southern Manydown is to create a sustainable, smart and connected destination with opportunities for employment, skills, learning and living. Southern Manydown provides a strategic location and significant opportunity to create c8,600 homes along with some 10,000 new jobs.

We are looking for individuals to join our team and work with us to realise and deliver the Manydown Garden Communities programme.

As a borough we have an economy that’s valued at £8.03billion, with capacity and ambition to build on this to ensure the borough remains prosperous.

One of the most important figures for us is our extremely high 95% resident satisfaction rate with the borough as a place to live. To achieve this, we focus on addressing the things that matter most to our residents such as building more new and affordable homes.

At a time when people in our community are likely to face economic hardship owing to the impacts of the pandemic, we need people in key roles who aren’t just good at programme management and planning but also have real entrepreneurial flair and innovative ideas to get the very best value from all we do.

It’s a complex and often challenging place, but incredibly professionally rewarding.

In return we offer a range of benefits including an attractive annual leave allowance, generous contributory pension, hybrid working from our recently refurbished offices in the vibrant town centre, health cash plan and more.

I'm looking forward to meeting highly able candidates with a strong interest in place making and delivery.

I wish you the very best of luck in your application.
