The wellbeing of our staff is important to us and we support them to look after their own physical and mental wellbeing, both in and out of work. Not only do we want our staff to have a healthy wellbeing, but we know that staff who are motivated and have a healthy work-life balance will provide great services for our residents.
Our wellbeing group brings staff from a range of teams together to promote a healthy workplace and coordinate a programme of wellbeing activities, events and awareness sessions on topics such as mental and physical health, menopause and financial wellbeing. The team helps organise sports events such as rounders tournaments held locally in Basingstoke, and subsidised annual health check drop-in days.
We also have a group of trained mental health champions who provide an alternative and confidential listening ear for our staff if they need to speak to someone. They can also direct staff to professional support services if they need it.
We understand that our staff may want to speak to someone outside of the organisation so we provide access to a free 24/7 telephone employee assistance programme which offers confidential and independent support on matters such as family issues, debt, work, lifestyle addictions, relationships and legal advice. We also cover the cost of up to six counselling/cognitive behaviour therapy sessions for every employee.
Our healthcare cash plan scheme helps staff with costs such as prescriptions, dental and optical care and other therapies including chiropractic treatment which can equate to an annual saving of up to £1,170 per year. This can be upgraded to provide greater cover to include additional family members.
We offer all employees a free annual flu vaccination and contribute £25 towards the cost an eye test and £60 towards the cost of frames every two years, if required for VDU use.
